If you live in or near Salt Lake City and your anxiety has kept you from going to the dentist, call our office in Holladay, UT. You might find that we can help you become more comfortable about going to the dentist.

We Are Here To Support You

When you walk into our dentist’s office, we don’t want any of our patients to feel tense. We also know that dental anxiety isn’t necessarily because of us. It may be because of an unpleasant dental experience in your past.

You have a fear of needles. You may have a sensitive gag reflex, or maybe you are worried that the dentist will be judgmental when he sees your teeth.

We want to start your care by listening to you. Please let us know if you have any of the concerns we mentioned above or a different concern. The more we understand you and your fears, the more we can do to help.

We also want you to understand that you probably will not overcome your dental fear in a single visit to our office. It will be a process, and our hope is that it will get a little easier for you each time you come.

We are on your side every step of the way.

Comfort Is Part Of Your Care

We want to walk you through what an appointment can be like in our office.

You call to schedule your visit. During your call, you learn that you can schedule a longer appointment.

The person on the phone sounds very pleasant. She explains that the reason we offer longer appointments is so you don’t feel rushed. This allows you to take a break if you start to feel overwhelmed.

This way we can take your treatment one step at a time, and you don’t have to schedule multiple appointments.

We also understand that privacy is important to you. Our semi-private operatories allow our dental staff to move freely from patient to patient, but they provide you with a sense of comfort knowing that no other patients will see you during your treatment.

As an added feature, we have televisions in all our operatories. Would you like a distraction from your dental care? We will be happy to turn on the TV so you can watch one of your favorite shows.

And if there is anything we can do to help, just ask. We will do our best to help you feel relaxed.

Sedation Dentistry

While we make patient comfort a priority in our practice, we know some people would rather not remember their visit.

This is why we offer three types of sedation dentistry. We can give you gas, a pill, or an IV to help you remain calm throughout your procedure.

Believe it or not, nitrous oxide sedation has been part of dental care for more than 150 years. “Laughing gas” may make you feel light-headed, but it will ease any anxiety you are feeling so you can receive the care that you need.

It’s as simple as it can be. You breathe in the gas during your treatment. When you are finished, we turn off the gas, and you feel like yourself again.

With oral conscious sedation, you will take a pill before your appointment begins. We will wait for the pill to take effect before we start your treatment. It will keep you calm throughout your care and for a few hours afterwards, too.

You will need someone else to drive you home after oral conscious sedation and our strongest option, IV sedation.

IV sedation is used for patients undergoing complex or longer procedures. This kind of sedation can only be administered by a specialist.
